Hi everyone.

I just managed to get a copy of The Herpetoculture of Leopard Geckos writen by Phillippe de Vosjoli and Ron Tremper. I have just started reading it! As you know, here in South Africa we are very limited in terms of the different morphs available. I look forward to learning more about the genetics etc.

Has anyone on this forum read this book? If so, how do you rate it?

Hi Michelle,

I've read the book like 5 times and in a scale of 1 to 10 I would say it's 9 just missing some of those breeder secrets Tremper will never reveal LOL.

It's a very nice book, very good explanations and organization and spectacular photos.

Regards
Bruno

We bought and read ( several times)the book after we got our first Leo. I have to say though that I am learning more from the people on here then I have from any of our books that I ran out and bought. There is a wealth of information available from the people on here but it is a good book and I would recommend it.

I think it's probably one of the best books out there today on leopard geckos (and I've read *lots*). :main_thumbsup: Not perfect, but it has loads of great information.

Must do this coment,

This book was my first real info on geckos and therefor very valuable, now after some time around this forum the info on the book doesn't look so much but is still, for me, a must have on every breeders library.

PD.: Bret, I WANT DAYTONA, I am in love with her :D, can't stop looking

I have The Leopard Gecko In Captivity By Robbie Hamper. It was a good 1st leopard gecko book doesn't talk much about all the morths and stuff. I find GF is much more better then any gecko book I have looked at .

The book does have some great information in it, and it's worthwile to read. I found it to be more of a shameless self-promotion, and it spent w-a-a-y to much focus on crypto (which I disagree with most of) and not enough information on other parasitic infections that could affect leopard geckos.

Thanks for all the responses. I will bear them in mind when I read it. I must admit that I have learned so much from being on forums and from the internet as well as experience. I think that for me the part I really want help with is the genetics. I battle to get it all straight in my head even though I have researched it!

I have the book and it's a nice reading, but it didn't tell me almost anything I wouldn't know beforehand. I guess it's a good book, but I was expecting too much from it.
