The "I am Sooooooo Tired of Winter" thread

We had two days of 40 degree weather here this week that felt like a heat wave
I was out on the front porch yesterday cleaning the bunny hutches and I was so warm with the sun on my back that I actually took off my jacket and was working in my T-shirt for a while

Today-it is cold and bleak and we have either rain/sleet/ice or snow in the forecast for tonight/tomorrow with temps back into the low 30's for a high next week
There goes any plans for receiving any geckos next week
<pout>
I get really depressed in the winter months with the short days/bleak skies and the cold weather and I am much more housebound since I do not drive
I try and get out on my bike if the weather is not extremely cold and the streets are clean and that usually makes me feel better but in the last month with 30 straight days below freezing here-I have been inside a lot
I was really starting to perk up this week with the nicer weather and now I find myself down in the dumps again
Oh-I will get up off my butt and get the stuff done that needs to be done
And I feel better once I am up and doing stuff-It's just that motivation is hard to come by when I feel like this
:main_thumbsdown:
If truth be told-I would rather just crawl back under the nice warm covers and stay there until spring-lol

Oh and I got my gas bill today
$249.00 for last month-whoppie!!
:main_rolleyes:
Thanks for letting me vent

Hey Sandy I know how you feel. We've been denied snow, burried under ice, frozen by Artic temps & not once gone sledding. Mother Nature is one ticked off lady! I hope she'll forgive us by Spring.

I'm right there with you, Sandy. I drive, but other than that, I could've written what you did. I just looked outside, and although my driveway was 100% clean & dry this afternoon, it now has at least 4-5" of snow on it and it's still coming down.

I promised myself this would be the last Wisconsin winter that I'll endure, and that notion was a little comforting at first, but right now... :main_thumbsdown: :main_no: :main_angry:

You guys would probably bite my head off but I LOVE winter. The snow is awesome. I always prefer to be cold than be hot. I complain when the weather is like 90 degrees with the heat index over 100. You can't really do anything but stay in the house with the AC at full blast.

just my 0.02 cents.:D

We got this years first snow the night to thursday...it came a lot of snow in no time and it was a storm!
The good thing is that they closed all the roads around our village, so we coulden´t go to work!
It has been a nice long weekend...

But hopefully the spring will be back soon!

I know that i am nnot the only one that has a major problem with the extended glomy and cold weather of winter and it sure helps to hear from you guys that other people are just as frustrated as i am with their impatience for spring to arrive

I personally(in my old age) have absolitely no tolerance for extreme weather-hot or cold but giben the choise i thinkt hat i would rather be inside with the A/C cranked that with the furnace running

Spring is an eventuality-I just need to exercise a bit more patience and go and lose myself working with the geckos-lol

Gregg-Some people just like the cold weather-they can't help themselves-jk

Thanks for all of your replies on this

Sandy,
I'm with ya....I don't think too many of us feel real good with this weather and even if you do drive it does not stop that gloomy depression that comes upon us.I hate winter I can't stand the cold and well....I would rather be swimming the shoveling....LOL Spring will get here very soon if it knows what's good for it!!!

Greg, I totally understand. Some people are "cut out" for the cold, others for the heat. Honestly, I would much rather have it 100* and humid as heck with NO A/C than deal with the sub-zero temperatures. The A/C didn't work in my house one summer a few years ago and we had some of the highest temperatures ever. Apparently I didn't care enough to bother having the A/C fixed. Sure it was uncomfortable, but I didn't feel anywhere near as rotten as our "average" winters make me.

I know that there are many people like myself that get disgusted and depressed with winters gloom and cold
It's really comforting to read all of your replies and know that I am not the only one wanting to crawl under the covers and stay there until it warms up for good and the sun is shining and the birds are singing etc.
Speaking of birds singing-One encouraging note-the cardinals are back in IL.-I heard a male singing this afternoon
:D
I have come to the conclusion that in my old age-I cannot tolerate extreme weather of any kind-be it baking or freezing and I need to move to somewhere that is "the perfect moderate climate"
yeah right-lol

Gregg-There are some people that actually like cold weather-they just can't help themselves-lol-jk

Paul-I am gonna lose it if I wake up tomorrow with more significant snowfall on the ground-lol

It's not doing anything precipitation-wise here yet but I guess that all I can hope for is that we don't get an ice storm that knocks out the power
I really can handle anything else but that right now-honest I can

I am sure that my mood will lift with the onset of more nice days than yucky ones and thanks for all of your well wishes

Of course I know that I can go and loose myself in caring for my geckos-which I am gonna do as soon as I finish this post

Maybe I am just ticked off because the weather is holding up the shipping of all of the beautiful geckos that I have people waiting to ship to me-LOL

Everyone
Think Spring !!

I will always take a bright sunny day over a gloomy one, that's for sure. And summer activities far outweigh any winter activities that I can think of. I just don't see a big deal to winter weather.

My wife always gets on my case around these cold months. She'll come outside with gloves, scarves, huge winter jackets, earmuffs, double pants, double socks and a hat. I just come out with a sweater or two. I don't even own a winter coat (you know those huge down feather ones). I tease her because she reminds me of Ralphies brother from The Christmas Story-all bundled up.

I guess I do take to winter months better than others huh:D
