Thanks so very much everyone

I am still picking my jaw up off the floor from my first look at them in person

Andrew Gilpin takes wonderful pics but his pics of them did not do these girls justice or maybe they just developed more coloration as they were being held for me

I am soooooooooo happy with them
:main_yes:

Now all that i need down the road is a male-LOL

:D

Nice henkeli you've got there! Allen isn't a bad place to start if you want to really get hooked. Get working on their adult enclosures now, as they'll be of good size before you know it (in the next 12-24 months or so)... Grats

Yes-these guys are The new Caledonia Giant Geckos and they can get pretty big

Here are Tamara's adults-they are just absolutely beautiful and if you scroll down the thread-you will read that they are very vocal geckos-making clicking and growling noises

http://www.geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=9221

Here are a few pics of their tank

They have an extra large cork bark round for a hide and a real pothos plant and grapevine and 2 large fake vines

When I put them into this tank-which is a 40 gal tall-they promptly disappeared from sight and I am wondering how long before I see them out and about

The tank is right next to my computer and I don't use a light at night to type so it is pretty dark in here

I am gonna have so much fun watching them

While foliage is definitely a must for Rhacodactylus, I tend to think that is too much. They prefer branches and cork hollows, etc. in my experience. I'd also separate them into different cages. Even henks are known for inter-specific aggression and if size differences get too large, you might have one less leachie. When i was raising mine, they did much better in smaller cages (10 gallon cages or smaller) at least until they were 5-6" svl. Sorry for the rambling, just some advice to ensure they thrive for you.

Thanks for your advice

It seems that everywhere that I read -the emphasis was on using a larger sized enclosure for them so that is what I went with

If it is in their best interest to be placed in smaller separate tanks-then I shall do so
I have spare tanks from 10 gal. on up that I can use for them and I debated back and forth for about a month as whether to place them in sepate tanks or together

It seems that I made the wrong decision

I certainly don't want anything to hinder their growth and/or endanger their health

The right hand side of the tank has an extra large cork round under the foliage and there is another grape vine on the inner wall of the tank so there actually is more open area than the angle of the pic shows

Congrats on the Leachies!! Phillip and I had one once (we picked him/her/it... no idea) anyway, he/she/it was the coolest little thing! It was just a baby baby though! Probably a little smaller than yours. I'll agree, he was neat, but they make a hell of a noise! It's definately scary in the middle of the night when it's dark!! Good luck with them! :)
