Tegus aren't monitors...

But more importantly, Samson was sold to you as an Argentine? Clearly and unequivocally labeled as an Argentine black and white?

'cause... well, my eyes are bad and it's only two moderate sized photos for me to judge it by, but I am pretty sure he's not. The loreal scale is the big giveaway, though the pattern is also an indicator.

Edit: The tegu and the monitors are being housed separately, right?

good 'ol AL :/
The first one looks like our tegu we used to have. He was so to us as a black and gold tegu. And as was said before, Tegus are not monitors. lol

Nice looking savannahs though. How old are they? They're a lot slimmer than ours. He's a glutton. lol

Oh. I didn't know that. Yes he was sold as an Argentine B&W. What is he then?

Yes they are housed separately. Leviathan is in a 75gal, Runt in a 60gal & Samson in a 20L, since he's still small, at the moment.

The Savannahs eat dubia & lateralis roaches and an occassional boiled egg, and by occassional I mean once every 3 months or so, depends on how big of a dent they put in the roaches.

Not too sure how old they are. The guy we got them from didn't know. Leviathan is a couple inches shy of 2 feet. Runt is about 1 foot.

Given the single loreal scale (the most important factor), the color and the pattern, it looks like a Colombian. Or, I suppose in theory, a cross, though there's no visual identifier that he might be. I'm just going by a couple photos, not as good as a firsthand examination, but I am not seeing anything to indicate Argentine and everything I do see indicates Colombian.

Which leaves me curious as to where you obtained it and exactly how it was labeled. Argentines usually command a higher price, on the average they tend to run about double to triple what a Colombian goes for, though individual dealers and individual animals will (of course) vary.

We got it from a local reptile shop. He just had "black & white tegu" labled on the tank. My bf said he did say Argentine when he was talking to him(but he's not the greatest listener...). We bought him for only $60 though

They are extremely fun to watch. But I would have liked if the bf hadn't impulse bought them & let me do research on them. Kinda had to do a crash course when we got them, and they need more maintnance, hate the whole pooping in the water dish thing...ugh. Lol

QUOTE=animeavatar;671198]Can you post a pic of your fire skink's set-up? Thx!:)[/QUOTE]

I dont have any recent pictures of his enclosure. This one was in my profile album. He's in a 20L with coconut fiber bedding. He has a different water dish & stuff. I am actually in the process of adding more bedding. It flattens out after a while. I can send you a picture of it when I'm done. Until then, this is all I have...
