The nerve of some vets - Rant

With everything that has been going on with Obi & Dante, thru it all we were ultimitely sent to another vet since the original one seems to like taking 3+ days off during the week. Now the other vet is WAY further out our way, but they do a better job I think. I call in this morning to discuss another potential problem for Dante and find out the Dr. is off today. No big deal. they tell me that the message will be passed on tomorrow, but in the mean time I should probably call the other herp vet just in case. In doing so the receptionist tells me flat out "Well, you had an appoinment scheduled yesterday and you called to cancel since you decided to take Dante to the other vet. Call them. Other wise, you need to start from square one, since the Dr. is not willing to give advice over the phone to those who aren't under her care anymore." WTF!? they were the ones who sent me down there, and they're pissed that I already had an appointment to follow up. What is the point of having 2 vet visits in one day for the same animal? I think they need to extract their heads out of a certain place. Since they apparently do not want my business since I went to "the competition" then I need to find another place. When did it stop being about the animals and not the payment at the end?

Ok, I'm done ranting, damn that felt good.

I wouldn't say that's the vet's fault, per se. You didn't actually talk to the vet, just the receptionist. And they can be sort of... happiness impaired? lol. Try talking (directly) to the vet before you get too pissed.

I've asked to speak to the vet on more than one occasion since we started taking them, and every time I'm told they're too busy and can't take the call.

happiness impaired. lol. that's one way to put it. :D

Busy and can't take the call, what about a message and having them call you back?

I've never been to an exotic vet but I do take my dog to the vet frequently since she always has a problem with allergies. If my vet is ever too busy to answer a call his receptionist takes the message with a name and number and he'll call during his lunch break if we called before that or right after closing if we call later on in the day. He is also the only vet there with a few vet tech and he has A LOT of patients.

Around.
Honestly... the receptionist was VERY rude.. I am always very happy when I talk to people.. and the vets I work for don't mind taking 20 mins to talk to a person who is not one of their patients. The vet stinks... :main_thumbsdown: plain and simple.

If you have a question and the vet is out today.. and it's not an emergency then wait for the other one.

Not that im defending the vet ( because some are difficult and about money) But in the state of PA it is against the law to give vet advise without seeing the pet in person. If they gave you advise without seeing the animals and it went the wrong way they could be sued. So i think this is a case of them covering their butts and a rude receptionist.
