So we ended up getting one, from the local breeder.....(the way he told me to care for it :main_no:) he wanted me to give it a bananna with fruitflies. not only the fruit flies, he wants me to let the fruit flies lay eggs on the bananna then let him eat the larva o_O
anyway, my gf is buying some cgd after she gets out of class tomorrow.

I have asked that question many times. I never notice if my CGD goes down or if they even touch it. However, I only feed crickets once a month and they are big babies of great weight.
You will notice if your gecko is starving, he will drop wieght and look emaciated. But I think they get it.
Bannanas are good treats for cresteds, and I have heard of the fruit fly thing! I tried it myself but it was so gross and overwhelming it didn't last long. But that should not be thier main diet. (I also feed baby food once in awhile as a treat..like about every 2 months. I try not to do it very often because it sweet and they may not want there CGD but so far no problems)

if he/she is pooping its eating something, like after a few days in your care clean the cage so you can see if it has pooped or not. and dont give alot of CGD so that way maybe you will notice if it has ate some or not. I normally make mine on the thick side so maybe make it thicker so maybe it can be more noticable if eaten. also try it out when you mix the cgd and put the mixed cgd on its nose to let it lick it off and do that for a lil bit then it should get the taste for it. also i heard you can add some honey to it but not too much but since its used to bananas n fruit flies you probably need it sweeter than normal at first so it can get used to CGD. Also try crickets or whatever insect you feed your leos. I hope it does well for you. just sucks that the breeder hasnt come into the new century of feeding cresties CGD n some sort of insects or no insects n just cgd. Good luck

I would consider getting more decor in there. When making crestie tanks you want to try and make hiding spots on all of the walls so your gecko has several choices to hide out in, instead of just a couple. And also offer some floor cover, some cresties like to sleep on the floor.

How large is your gecko? It looks rather small to be in such a large habitat. For that exo I would wait until the gecko was about 10g before moving it into it. If under 10g I would consider keeping your gecko in a med kritter keeper until it is. If that simply isnt an options, I would consider keeping several small food dishes in there in various places, like one on the floor and one raised up off of the ground as some baby geckos in such a large enclosure tend to stay off of the ground as in the wild thats where they are more apt to get eaten off at. And to raise the food dish up there are a few things you could use, either this

Or even self adhearing soap dishes like this

All I did was I went to bed bath and beyond and found a suction cup soap dish and I painted it so it looked more natural. Works great and even several of the largest of cresties can easily sit on it.

I wouldnt do the fruit fly thing, seriously unsanitary. As said if you see poop then your gecko is eating. I wouldnt make the food too think, it dries up too quickly but one thing you can try is adding mango nectar from the grocery store to the CGD, use part water and part nectar. This will naturally sweeten it. You can use honey, just be sure it is organic honey and not the cheap stuff from the grocery store. And there is always the option of using part 2 diets. I use normal CGD and part 2 diets as a treat. But part 2 CGD is just as nutritional as normal CGD, just gives you the option to offer different flavors, or for those people who have some picky eaters (my gargs dont care much for normal CGD), they can try another flavor and see how they like it. Mine all like the fig and snarf the mango like it is going out of style.

yeah. mine dries quick no matter what i mix it the thickness of gravy maybe slightly thicker. I have tried thinner but it still dries within a day. so i have to feed my cresties more often babies every other day and adults every 2 days. i used to feed out crickets to them but i just haven't had time to buy crickets or money. I use the 2 part diet, mine used to like the peach best i noticed them eat it up best but i lose my nectars or the dogs hide them i dont know lol. now i have i think kiwi or something i aint sure to me all of them nearly smell the same and taste the same yes i have tasted them lol.

he was also breaking into shed!

his little bowl of cgd i put in there had a little bit on one side licked up so all is well :main_thumbsup:

Okay, so convinced my girlfriend to let me move the crestie into my spare kritter keeper.

I was washing it out, so i took a scotch brite pad to it.....

BAD IDEA it was dark in the room and i didnt notice that it was scratching it until i turned on the light to dry it off.

but here it is.
