I am new to the breeding community and I am currently looking for a female for my male Blizzard. I was wondering what weight and age he should be before I decide to breed him. I was also wondering what morph I should breed him with, should I stick to a Blizzard female or could I possibly breed him with a Mack Snow or Lavender Bell? Any help would be greatly appreciated before I begin breeding..:) Thanks a bunch!

Ideally a gecko should be at least 9 months old and at least 50 grams to breed. This is more important for the female who will use lots of physical resources making the eggs, but since the male may not eat much while he's thinking about breeding it 's important for him to be a decent weight as well.

You can breed him with whatever you want, but you will get different results. Without gong into excruciating detail, if you breed him to a blizzard you will get blizzards. If you breed him to a dominant trait like a snow, you will get a percentage of snows, all of whom will carry the gene for blizzard ("het for blizzard") but none of whom will look blizzard. If you breed him to another recessive trait like Bell albino, you will get geckos that look "normal" but carry the genes for both blizzard and albino. One nice thing about blizzards (I've heard and seen this but never done this myself) is that when they are bred to a non-blizzard, they have the potential to produce geckos with speckles, a trait that I happen to like a lot. Since I unexpectedly got a blizzard female this season, I'm ultimately planning to breed her to my normal male to get speckled geckos.

If you're seriously planning to breed, make sure you have the following items and plans available:
incubator and associated paraphenalia
food and housing for the babies (which could range anywhere from 0-20 or more)
resources to take sick geckos to the vet
plans for babies born with deformities, the kind that a gecko can live with and the kind it can't live with.

Good luck,

Aliza

Im also new to breeding and just bred my Blizzard. I have 3 geckos. One is a blizzard and the other 2 are just regular leopard geckos. I dont know the names for them. I am eagerly awaiting eggs to form in the female! Good luck on your babies!
