yaay! i found the thread that lets me show off my leo ^^"
hi! im Lorie and this is the story of me and dragons adventure so far ^^"

Facts about how i keep him, i have him in a 5 gallon tank for now cuz im short on space
-he has a log hide on his warm end and a wooden little hut hide on the cool end he loves curling up into
-he has green reptile carpet
-i have stick on thermometers on both cool and warm end, i keep his tank warm end between 80-89 and his cool end to 75-82
-i keep his humidity between 10 and 40 when hes not shedding, when he is i'll crank it from 50-70
-i clean out his tank every 8-10 days scrubbing everything and taking him out of it cuz i take everything out of the tank and clean it in the tub except the tank, i scrub the walls down of his tank and get any access poo off the bottom, i double rinse everything then put his home back together and him back in
-every night or 2 i pick up his poop with some tissue or a paper towl so it doesnt just sit in there
- i give him about 10 mealworms for breakfast now and 3-4 medium crickets for dinner
okay so like my intro said i met Dragon Feb 5 2016, +++++ said he was probably about a month old
i chose a leopard gecko due to their longevity and a friend of my insisted i learn to bond with reptiles

thats him when i first brough him home (i still dont know dragon's true gender but saying he feels right so bear with me x3)
i picked this little buddy cuz the lady gave me 2 in each hand and i placed them in the tank, i said whoever doesnt leave my hand is who im taking home, this little guy stayed put so i picked him ^^

and then that same night he shed, the next day he was all white and i freaked out cuz at the time i wasnt expecting him to shed so soon, everyday i was researching stuff to make sure i was taking care of him, i was so worried cuz he was so small and wouldnt eat his crickets or worms that i slept next to his tank and would wake up every few hours to check on him
but this is him the next day ^^
160206_001.jpg
he had turned more orange and his head turned from black to brown, for a while there he started to remind me a tiny Greymon x3

i found out about how their patterns change with their sheds and size so i went alittle picture crazy ^^
this is him 2/8/16, i was taking pictures everytime i saw how cute he was or a change in his body x3
View attachment 73164 View attachment 73166 see? what i tell you! the top of his head was greymon brown x3 i took this pic cuz without a shed his bands changed from black to grey with black spots and i was in total surprised at how fast he was changing x3 his first two weeks were hard for me cuz i wanted to bond wiht him so badly, but everytime i went to try to pick him he up he'd run away xc so i decided to just take pictures!
there were a few times he let me pick him up and i was so happy!
for a while he was kinda skinny, he had finally started eating but he would stay that thin! sorta...well here you guys tell me! i gave him 3 crickets and about 7 worms a day back then cuz i was terrified of overfeeding him or impacting him
he's take him about 3 days to eat all the crickets and worms so i wouldnt refill until it was al gone so i could make sure he was eating
heres a pic of him from 2/12/16 when he finally let me pick him up without him getting freaked out lol and you can see what i mean? he was getting longer and his pattern was changing but his tail wouldnt plump up! i was so worried :c
View attachment 73168
at that point he was about 5 inches long but he just wouldnt plump up :c
i gave him some space for a while cuz i was more focused on his health than pictures but on 2/16/16 i took a pic cuz he was running around his tank like crazy and it made me laugh cuz he's scurry, then look at me, then scurry again then look at me lol it made me feel better cuz i felt like he was saying "dont worry! im okay! iim juust little! x3"
View attachment 73169

now the story gets interesting!
see on 2/16 it was freezing cold outside and i couldnt get his crickets so i fed him extra worms to make up for it, but then on 2/17 after work i got his crickets (YES I DUST THEM! im currently using reptivite but ones hes at 6 months or i run out whichever comes first im gonna switch him to repti-cal at first i was dusting both worms and crickets)
but anyway, i got his crickets and he heard the ziploc of dust shaking them i called it shake and bake XD
he got so excited he climped to the top of his little log trying to get to the bag before i could dump them out, since hhadnt had crickets the night before i gave him 5 circkets to make up for it, he gobbled down 3 really fast so i gave him 2 more for the night and he ate those two leaving 2 more so he ate 5 altogether, the next morning i looked at him and he looked kinda bloated and i panicked thinking i overfed him :c
View attachment 73170 View attachment 73171
he hadnt thrown up any food and he hadnt pooped yet so after work i ran straight to the vet and showed her the skinny pic and those pics and told her the story, she laughed and said "its fine! his tail should plump up now, if he doesnt slim down in afew days or poops then bring him in, but hes just full from having all those crickets in him, he may be hungry again tonight but if he still has those 2 left dont give him anymore"
he had 1 left...so i gave him 2 more..he ate 1 >.>"
this was him the next day and thankfully he had pooped x3
View attachment 73172 View attachment 73173
his tail was finally plumping up ^.^ i was so happy!
so i fed him and he was letting me hold him more and i was talking to him and i was less worried ^.^
but then it was like he wouldnt stop growing lol i was too happy x3
then on 2/22/16 in the middle of the day he underwent a shed, before that he'd turn dusty looking but as you can see in the first pic he wasnt, then he was! then when i got back from work he was more colorful with his bands turning more grey and some of his black spots had disappeared! and he got more spots on his tail!
View attachment 73174 View attachment 73175 View attachment 73176

i was so curious as to what was going on with him i started looking up morphs, it said he was a tangerine morph but none of the other tangerins i found had brown heads! and i wasnt sure of he may have been a carrot tail or not so then i kept track cuz i wanted to know What Dragon Was ^^"
as he turned more orange and his bands turned more grey and his head turned more brown i was sure he was a tangerine but i wanted to be sure lol
View attachment 73177 View attachment 73178 View attachment 73179 View attachment 73180 View attachment 73181
like i said he was growing so fast, so on 3/12/16 i went picture crazy again i noticed he had grown to about 6 inches
and he looked like he was about to shed again too
but see what i mean? he got longer and his tail was getting plumper x3
and then i was right ^^ he had another shed that night and that mornign he was MORE ORANGE! his spots were basically gone and he had nearly orange bands x3
3/13, i wrote down all his sheds so icould keep track, as of now hes shedding about every other week
View attachment 73182 View attachment 73183 View attachment 73184 View attachment 73185
this was a happy day for me cuz i noticed the base of his tail turning orange ^^ so that made him a tangerine carrot tail x3 the brown on his head had vanished so my little greymon wasnt really a greymon after all XDD
by this point he was 5 and a half almost 6 inches and i have no idea how much he weighed but he was happy and healthy ^^
the second pics he had just ate about an hour ago so tahts why he looks chubbier in the tummy
okay heres the laaast part of our Tale SO FAR ^^
3/24 he had a shed and i noticed his bands weret urning green, before that he had 2 blue spots on his bands but i tohught nothing much of it
oh and he had another shed lol 20160324_224730.jpg
and this is him the next day! i had noticed his bands were a bright green and i wanted to get a good pic but he wouldnt stay still XDD
20160325_103546.jpg 20160325_103617.jpg
i looked up green leopard geckos and emerine/emeralds came up, all of them had tangerin im them to!

Well thats it folks for now, right now he's turnign dusty again and i tend to leave him alone during that time cuz i know hes trying to shed, i'll have more pics in the next day or 2! but for right now
This is my leopard Gecko, His OR her name is dragon, he OR she is 3 months old (i think) and seems to be Tangerine/Emerald Carrot Tail at 7 inches long, does that make him a super giant?? lol

Welcome! It sounds like you're doing a fantastic job taking care of Dragon. =) It always makes me happy to see people who really care about their geckos. He looks very healthy.

As far as Dragon's morph, I would call him/her a super hypo tangerine baldy. Emeralds are part of a specific line of geckos that yours is probably not from, so I would not call him emerald. You will likely see the greenish tinge to his bands fade and he will become solid orange. Personally I don't think there is quite enough orange on his tail to call him a carrot tail. And he's most likely not a super giant. I forget the parameters, but it's something like a super giant must reach 100 grams and 10 inches (don't quote me on that, I don't work with giants so I don't always remember correctly) in their first year. Even then, a real giant comes from other giants, which you're very unlikely to find in a chain store.

He's getting to the size where you may be able to sex him soon. Do you know how to sex him?

i dont know his gender yet, he's only 3 months old and already 7 inches ^^ and thank you for replying!, his tail is slowly getting alot of orange splotches so thats why i was thinking hes becoming a carrot tail x3, but i've tried checking and theres no sign yet, but dragon doesnt seem to mind me saying "hiii boy!" and he listens when i say "climb onto my other hand" and he does, i wuvs my Dragon so so much! i wish the other pics had showed up..i can post them now i think...

You're doing a great job. Keep it up!

There is just one thing I want to mention. Those stick on thermometers measure the air temperature. With leopard geckos, the floor temperature is what's important. if the air temperature is measuring 80-89, than the floor is probably much too hot. If you want to provide Dragon with the best possible care, you might consider getting a digital thermometer with a probe you can stick on the floor. The floor temperature on the warm side should measure 90 degrees. If it measures over that, than you will need a way to regulate your UTH. You can use a thermostat (more expensive but reliable) or a lamp dimmer (less expensive but requires regular tweaking). It's very important to get this temperature right. If it's too cold, he might not be able to digest his food very well. If it's too hot, he could get burned (it has happened on this forum before).

ioh and i meant to say 80-85, if it hits 89 i turn his lamp off for a while and let it cool down, he has a reptile tank heating back outside/under the tank, its a stick on, it only goesu p to a maximum of 82 degrees, if you wnat i can take a pic of his terrarium :3
