I was just asking, there is a lot to rehoming a dog, Ive done rescue for 22 years and Ive had people that passed the home check, vet check and seemed to be perfect adoptors then I go to do a recheck 2-3 months later and the animal is neglected so sometimes the perfect home is not just that.

I umderstand. I worked with someone who does Pit rescues to help rehome him properly.

Well Asking hi prices for adoption is ridicules. I mean Like I said in my first post if the person decided to give a fee to the guy given the animal that okay. But askin 100 or more than you might as well buy your self a animal from a breeder. and not adop.

I somewhat agree with Zero. If you say you are giving an animal for adoption, it's ridiculous to ask the same amount as if you were buying it, for an animal that probably has not been properly cared for.

But I think it's completely irresponsible to give for free a reptile to someone you know just from answering a classified in the internet. It's not the same with dogs, that are more or less easy to figure out (and that there are too many that they need ANY help, even if it isn't the best of the best...).

Reptiles need very specialized care and cannot be handed to everyone, and less for free. There's too many irresponsible people out there. If they pay for the animal, at least there's an higher possibility that the buyer will take care of it so they don't waste the money they paid.

If I adopted a dog from a shelter (or a reptile from a rescue) I would gladly pay for the vaccines, chips, medication, etc... Since they are not the ones who got an animal just to dump it, but were trying to help it and had to spend their own money and effort. I don't think any other kind of adoption deserves to be paid, but for the shipping.

If I had an animal I don't want to keep I would either nurse it back to health (if it was ill) and sell it when he is fully recovered, or if it's not possible because it has a deformity or is amputated then look for someone of my surroundings who I trust that wants it. Or maybe just grin and bear it, and keep it myself. It's very easy to just put a classified on the net to get rid of an animal and on the top of it ask money for it!
