thermostat and thermometer

I was wondering if people who have the thermostats with only a dial also use a thermometer to monitor the temperatures. Are the thermostats reliable enough to just set the dial? Are there any thermostats with digital displays of the temp for under $50? Thanks in advance.

I use $45 Catalina Aquarium RF-1000 800W thermostats with only the dial. I use them together with $15 Exo Terra digital thermometers. The readings match the dial settings within 1 degF. So, this brand controls accurately, but I personally like to see the temperature, too. The combined price is still less than the higher end heat controllers that include a digital readout.
