i have a 20 gallon tank with a uth and a red light just in case. i was just wondering how to set up the thermostat. i have a spyder robotics thermostat and have all the settings set but i just need help alligning it in the tank?

Where should it go and how should i fixx it to the tank?

Put the thermostat probe over the under tank heater. If there's a way you can get the probe into the hide on the warm side that's even better. Try to make sure the bulb of the probe is lying on the bottom of the cage and not tilted up so that it can accurately assess the temperature of the tank floor. Plug your UTH into the thermostat. Plug the thermostat into the outlet. If your thermostat doesn't have a digital temperature readout, it will be best to use another thermometer to make sure your thermostat is set to the temperature you want. Ask more questions if I wasn't clear enough.

nope that was fine. thanks very much. i knew how to set it all up, but i wasn't sure if i should put the probe in the hide or not.

So, should the probe be kind of vertical so that the tip is straight down or is it okay if its just flat?

It's best if it's flat because it's the length of the probe that's going to sense the heat, as far as I understand it.
