At what point in the egg development does the temp. actually determine the sex? Is it very early after first being laid, or later in incubation?

Awesome pictures ssscales, and good choices for the breeding. Do you know of a good place to get the bed-a-beast for a good price ?

Thanks, so far the Jungle Female has dropped four clutches and the Snow has dropped three. They are dropping a clutch every about every 15 days it seems and so far all have candled well. From what I've read sex is locked within 2-3 weeks after the eggs are laid. We've left most of them at 80-82F for 4 weeks to lock in females and then decided to move a few of the clutches to 87-88F where we set two of the latest clutches to incubate as males.

We're going to let 1/2 the eggs meant for females at 80-82F for the duration and the other 1/2 will start off at 80-82F for 3-4 weeks and then move to 87-88F for the balance. We'll see how it goes with both ways and post results.

I think we pay $3-$4 for a block of bed-a-beast from Pet Supermarket. It's compressed and when wet expands to about 8X's the size of the brick. I just take the brick decompress it and place it in a rubbermaid to use as needed.
