I got my Dubia colony a couple weeks back, and finally am seeing enough babies in there for me to give my geckos a little taste :) I got a couple videos of my two youngest chowing down.

*Excuse the grinding noise in the background, I need to take the camera apart and clean it...it's the gears making noise. Also ignore my yelling at my husband in the other room "she got it, she got it" lol  :)*

Yes, first gecko is Chloe, my Aberrant light phased Normal het Tremper, and the second is my little Albino Patty, Clark :) They both went on to eat 3 other Dubias each. Makes me very happy that my investment in the breeding colony will be worth while!

Lol Marlana...you are too right. But you know what, I just tell myself they are LARGE potato bugs ;) That gets me through handling them. The adults I just don't even touch! Here's some full grown adults when I first got them...

LoL My colony is getting rather large I'm happy to say :main_yes: Should be getting my geckos by the start of November so they will have had a few months to set up. Thinking about getting a few hundred more from the roach guy in a few months to mix up the genetics.

Heather, my daughter saw the video and her first reaction was 'AAWWW!! Poor roaches!' ROFL I told her no matter how much she liked them we were still going to use them as gecko food! :main_laugh::main_laugh:

LOL Shenandoah! Too funny! I guess I'd feel bad if I hadn't gotten the roaches for one reason, and one reason only...to be yummy in my baby's tummies :devilish: ;) My colony is not ready for me to begin daily feedings from it, but I wanted to see how interested the geckos would be. I think I got my answer!

LOL oh belive me she KNOWS why we got the roaches ... 'but the big females are just so CUTE and the little ones look like pill bugs!' .... this from the girl that FREAKS OUT when there's a bug around!
Funny story: this summer we had cicadas ALL OVER around here. Well for 4th of July the town had a parade and they were throwing candy out and she was running around the side walk in front of the house picking up the candy when she screamed (would have thought she had just had her hand cut off), ran across the yard and JUMPED into my lap crying! .... she had picked up what she thought was a candy and it turned out to be a cicada that hadn't molted yet :main_laugh::main_laugh::main_laugh: I couldn't help it, I laughed so hard while I was holding her, telling her it would be ok.
......... and this is the same girl that wants to keep roaches as pets *sigh*
