On a whim this morning, prompted by the amount of bed-a-beast that made it's way out of Daria's laybox, I decided to finger through the substrate..

And I found, tucked neatly into a corner, two beautiful, firm, fertile eggs!

Introducing.. My first eggs!

And here's the mother and father!

(Tremper Jungle - His parents were giants, he is not.. Possibility of giant babies? I'm told they skip a generation sometimes.)

I'm not sure how long they've been there.. They were pretty well-packed into the bed-a-beast and weren't wet when I found them.. But Daria definately feels and looks lighter today!

I was jumping for joy when I found them, needless to say. :D

Oh, and quick question, guys.. I followed Albey's instructions on moistening the perlite, but my container is much smaller than the one pictured. The perlite still feels somewhat dry. Should it be moist to the touch?

The perlite will not be moist to the touch. The moisture seems to sit at the bottom of the container, and you may see some droplets at the bottom.

Albey's method is based on a ratio of 1:0.8 (Perlite to Water respectively) by weight, so the amount of moisture remains constant regardless of the container size.

And the perlite won't necessarily be moist to the touch. It allows the water to drain away from the eggs, so they don't absorb too much moisture. You'll just have to trust the mixture. ;)
