yo i have 1 more year until college and i want a gecko cause its freakin hilarious. and probably i can smuggle it in the dorm pretty easy.

i have a 10 gal fish tank that has an old crayfish in it thats pushing 3 years even tho its only supposed to live for 2 lmao. im assuming his time is coming soon so im thinking about reusing the tank for a gecko when he does since those reptile kits are not cheap. at one point even before i had the crayfish there was a disease in the tank, tuberculosis i think so im wondering if i should disinfect the tank or something or will that hurt the gecko idk.

i guess i cud buy a new tank but mine already has a hood light too, its just had a rough history thats all. worst comes to worst ill buy a new tank with a light off ebay or something

Welcome to GF. Clean the tank with a solution of 10% bleach and 90% water. After rinsing thoroughly, let it air-dry. You don't need the light. A leopard gecko can live in a 10 gallon but will do better in a 20 gallon long. Some dorms allow pets in a tank. If your dorm doesn't allow it and you get caught, the gecko will be confiscated, so think carefully about this first.
