Well today I went with my friend to pick up a 10 in severum a lady was selling. She had a whole bunch of saltwater tanks, I had inquired about this one that had a divider but she didn't say much.
Well, then on craigslist she posted one of the tanks I didn't even think to ask if it was for sale.
The two clowns are very pretty and the tank looks very nice.
It has some dusters, live rock, anenome.

Its a 12 gal.
Its posted at 150.
Good deal you think? Should I take it?

2 clowns should not be in a 12 gallon...that is too much fish for that size tank. Is that pink blob supposed to be the anemone?....... Honestly I wouldn't spend more than the tank originally cost.....it doesn't look like a healthy system and you'd more or less be starting fresh with that system since you'd have to buy more liverock. And if that blob is an anemone you'd have to get that out asap before it dies and kills anything else in the tank.

Its not that great of a deal, imo. Its a used system (nanocube?) and there does not look to be much live rock at all. The two clowns don't really belong in a 12 gallon tank and the tank is not well suited for an anemone either considering that most anemones will outgrow this tank and have greater light requirements than this tank appears to have. I think you'd be better off buying a new tank. You can probably get a new nanocube for less than $150 (i bought mine new for $75) and use the money you saved to buy live rock, etc...

what brand and what kind of lights???? we ve got the aqua pods at the reef store I run, they are pretty good. $150 is not that great a deal if its just the basic setup. new its around $180. it didnt look like it had enough live rock in it. if it did it be worth it. (1 lb per gallon) doesnt look like it though, and the anenome looks closed up. the fish if they ve paired up would actually be ok but only if they ve paired. they will need something like a big long tentacle anenome. good luck

Good call on that and by the pictures the blob was actually a dying bulb tipped anemone which is the easiest of anenmone species to keep as far as anemones go. Also if the anemone dies there are no toxins released so it wouldnt kill anything unlike sea cucumbers, sea apples, and cowfish. Also unless a fish wasextreemly small the anemone would not kill it and since it is actually a host anemone in nature to clownfish it would cause them no harm anyway but welcome them. However IF it died and was ALLOWED to decay than overtime the ammonia level would skyrocket but if you caught it soon enought there would be no issue.

I am not saying they are easy to keep just the easiest.

Also I think that a pair of clownfish would fair well in a 12 gallon nano provided there was and adequate amount of liverock. I am sure they would appreciate a larger tank but it would sustain them.

But I still think that was a BAD DEAL BUYING A NEW ONE WOULD SAVE YOU MONEY IN THE LONG RUN
