Where have you heard this? I am just trying to figure out this theory. I know eye infections can be caused by a lack of vitamin A but haven't heard the the mother being low in vitamin A causes eye deformities "most of the time." Did someone hatch out a bunch of hatchlings with eye deformities and then test the mother for vitamin deficiency?
If someone else who knows more about this could chime in then that would be great.
I see some scientific basis for it in this wikipedia page about vitamin a, but this is more about humans. I dont really know for certain nor have I seen tests done.
It's important for embryonic development in humans, this may be true for geckos as well...
