This looks scary to me

Hi all, see photo below. This is the underside of one of my breeding females. At least she's supposed to be breeding. She's been mated, but hasn't dropped the first clutch yet. She's gravid, overdue in my opinion. This abdominal area looks really messy to me, what's with the purple area? My other gravid females never look like this (see other photo below for comparison).

Any ideas? Is she in trouble, could this be egg binding? She's active, has been eating, no change in energy or temperament. She spends a lot of time in her nest box (moist vermiculite). Cage temp is 85-90 degrees F.

Thanks from a new member.

Sometimes when they have a belly full of food it looks like that. Some of my females looks as if they're about to burst with eggs for **days** before they lay. As long as she's acting fine, don't worry. Many females get somewhat restless when they're about to lay. You could keep putting her in the laybox to make sure she has the right idea.
