Tile, ceramic or stick on?

I have seen people talking about ceramic tile for flooring. I have been using the stick on type linoleum tiles that are easier to work with and cut down. I havent seemed to have any problems yet. Does anyone see a problem with using those over ceramic.

My only thought would be about the glue and whether anything is released when it comes into contact with the UTH.

I only chose ceramic tiles because they had a more natural (stone-like) look. But there might be some nice looking linoleum patterns, as well. I also like the ability to remove one 3x3 tile and thoroughly clean it.

Lowe's has 4x4 tiles for $0.37 each. I spent a little more for a sheet of 1x1 tiles to fill the remaining gap. No cutting and no new tools required.

Along the lines of what Jeanine mentioned, the surface of a UTH can be very hot, and you should check that the surface of the linoleum isn't too hot for their bellies. Tile works well in that respect.

I have the UTH on a lamp dimmer and it is adjusted to between 86 and about 91 deg. depending where you are at on the UTH. Did you use anything to fill the gap between the outside edge of the tile and the tank glass. Here is what the tak looks like.

Your setup looks great! And you've got a way to limit the surface temperature.

The 1/4" gap is filled with calcium powder to keep the crickets from hiding in it. I've seen my geckos lick it occasionally, and crickets usually end up walking in it, as well.
