Hi,

I picked up a 18x18x18 exo terra terrarium and I currently have reptile carpet in there. I decided that I wanted to make it look more natural to match the 3d rock wall background. I have checked out lowes and they have tiles that says 18x18 that I like. will these tiles fit or will they have to be cut? if so wonder where a guy could have it cut at? also it looks like to me that the uth would have a hard time going through the glass and then into the tile to make it warm enough for my leos belly heat or would it be fine? any help would be great thanks......Shaun

The 18x18 tank is not really 18" in inside measurement. However, the 18x18 tile is also not really 18". The only way to find out if both "not 18"" measurements are compatible is to bring the tank in and try to put the tile in it. Some Loews stores may have tile cutters and will make the cut for you. YOu can also buy a non-power tile cutter for about $15, but I don't think it will shave a small amount off the tile. If the tile doesn't fit, try to piece together other sizes to fit.

Tile holds and spreads heat really well. It should not be a problem to bring the floor of the tank with tile up to the correct temp.

Thanks, much appreciated I will go see what I can come up with. I guess I am sick of the reptile carpet. I think a sandy looking piece of tile would look much better then green reptile carpet plus I wouldnt run the risk of my leos claws getting stuck.....Shaun

sounds kinda weird, but i got slate tile for my tanks (10 gal), my brother cut them for me but they still weren't perfect. so i rubbed them on the sidewalk to file the sides down. i say buy the tile, if its a bit too small- fine. and if its a bit too big- file it on the sidewalk :D

wow. Now I feel really lazy. When I realized the tile I bought for my tank was too big, I just broke it into smaller peices with a hammer and layered it in the tank.
