Tile works great, especially in conjunction with a rheostat or thermostat and a thermometer to insure it doesn't get too hot. I get the cheap 12"x12" tiles from Home Depot or equivalent and cut them to size as necessary. Some of these stores will cut tile for you. Otherwise, for less than $25 you can probably get one of those score and press tile cutters.

All the Home Depots in my area don't cut tile, Loews does. Make sure the tile is 1/8 of an inch smaller then the tank (glass to glass from the inside). Reason for this is so the tile can sit level on the bottom of the tank. Most of the time the silicone will lift it and the the tile will need more heat to get to the temps you want. Put the tile in the tank with the tank on the side so you don't in fall into place which could crack the tile or the tank. You should definitely use a thermostat and tape the probe to the bottom of the UTH with strong tape (metal or duck tape). Then inside the tank in the middle of the UTH attach the temp probe to verify temps where the geckos will lay on. The reason for all this is the temps on the thermostat will need to be higher to create the temps you want on top of the tile. My thermostat is set for 100 and my tile temps are between 91 and 93.5. If you monitor the temps from the thermostat and the gecko moves it the temps will go real high and could burn them. By placing it under the tank the probe has a less chance of being moved the thermostat will cycle more which will keep the temps more steady. Good luck and if you have any question let me know.
