Tile sizes for 20L

Hi, first post here and I have a quick question...

I am getting ready to go pick up a pair of female leos that are in a 20L tank.
They are not full grown yet, and I will probably go a bit bigger for a tank to house them together in as adults...but for now they will stay in the 20L they are coming with. The current owner has Repti-carpet down, but I hate that stuff...I remember it back from when I had leos before.

I am wondering what tile sizes are fitting best in the bottoms of 20L tanks...I know this sounds ridiculous because it's a simple math problem, but the tanks are held together with the clear silicone which sometimes keeps the tiles from fitting perfect....

So what are y'all using these days ?? :D

For most 20L tanks, you need two 12"x12" tiles and a third cut in half. You're right, sometimes silicone causes a problem. Get three of those tiles (choose the cheapest from a HOme Depot type place. It should be under $2 each), try the two that will fit without needing to be cut and use the repti carpet for the rest of the area till you find someone who can cut the other.

The 3 tiles is right but I had to cut off almost 1/4 inch off the edge of the tile on 1 side to get mine to fit into my 20 long thanks to the silicon.

I went and bought three 12x12" tiles. I had them cut each tile down to 11 5/8" going one way (this would be my front to back measurement in the tank) and the third tile was also cut down to 5 1/2 inches. Because after measuring, the inside was only 29 1/2" long...there was some thick silicone in this one...and I still had to take a knife and cut out from the corners where it gobbed up at the end of the bead of silicone.

All in all, a little bit of extra work, for a much better looking tank!
Thanks for the help :)

I like the tile... a little too simple overall for my taste because I'm a detail freak but I bet the leos love it (if they don't slip on the tile much). I would also consider something a little different for the moist hide as was recommended, just so you know you're getting good moisture out of it. It looks nice. There's a few pix of my tank set up in my user profile photo albums if you want to get some ideas for a more natural set up that can be a bit of a show piece with out even having to see the leos :) I'm just a big fat show off ;)

Ya, I had just picked them up yesterday and had to do something asap! lol

I do want to do some kind of second level possibly...just trying to sort through some pics on here and snag some ideas ;)

The tile is a rough finish on the surface so they can walk just fine on it...had to pay a little more, it seemed like the cheapest ceramic tiles were the super slick ones...

yeah the slick ones are easier to manufacturer so... but good for you for getting a good texture and spending the extra mney. In the long run I'm sure the leos appreciate it.
