Tile Substrate

My tile doesn't fit perfect in the tank due to the silicone on the edges. Should I silicone the open spaces or just leave them loose? I have a 1/4 inch gap on all sides.

I could add sand to the edges being the tile is sand in color.

Any comments would help

I just leave the gaps.

I have about 1/2 inch of sand under my tiles. A 1/4 of an inch around the edge is pretty small, so that should be fine. I have about 1 1/2 inch at the far end of my tank that is not covered by the tile and my geckos use it as their toilet area.
