We switched over to tile today and I decided to post what it took since trying to find a good comdination was a little bit of a pain.

For the 20 gallon long - it took 10 6x6 tiles

For the 10 gallon - 2 pieces of 8 x 10 & 1 piece of 3 x 10 (these were cut down from a 12x12 tiles)

I've had the same problem. Usually for the 20 long I can use two 12x12 and one 12x6 that I cut from the 12x12. For the 10 gallon I use one 12x10 that I cut from the 12x12 and one 8x10 also cut from a 12x12. I invested in a score and press tile cutter for about $15.

Yeah, I liked the 10 6x6 since it was broken down into smaller sections in case if I needed to take a part out for cleaning. Some of the gex tend to be messy.
