okay i finially got my themometre for my geckos tank

and as ive said in previous posts she isnt eating at the moment
and what do i discover on placing the probe into the warm substrate

its 39.6C/103.28F!

so my question is

will this be affecting her appetite?
(the cool side is perfect)

That is WAY to hot for the warm side! You need to be about 10 degrees cooler (33.3C/93F). That kind of heat can cause major stress which can also cause them not to eat. I think you mentioned in another post that she's in a very large tank. How is it set up: heating, substrate, hides, calcium dish, etc?

well ive got to admit ive been thinking it was too cold for her. biig mistake obviously
she has heat mats to heat her tank in an L shape, since realising im currently on removing the smaller one.
her substrate is mixed, repti-carpet on the cooler side as i find it holds the moisture a little longer, the rest is wallpaper (easy to clean and replace)
she has a shallow bowl of water, and a bowl for mealworms, she has the lid of the calicium dish filled with calicium powder.
She has 3 hides, one moist, one in the warm side and another mid centred.

It may not be the amount of surface area with heat that's the problem if it's less than half of the tank. I would be more concerned with how hot the hot parts are getting. It's really helpful to get a rheostat or thermostat to plug the under tank heaters into. That way you can control the temperature precisely.

About the substrate you mentioned, are you keeping the repti-carpet moist all the time? I would worry about bacteria growing in there, plus it might be too humid for the gecko. With the wall paper, make sure there is no glue at the back of the wall paper.
