Time to try roaches

So I've had my lizard for a few months now and she's been exclusively eating superworms. She eats 2 every other day. I wanted to start mixing up her feeders a bit and wanted to try some roaches.

What size roaches should I get? I don't want to breed them or anything, just get some that might last a while and feed them off. Also, how many roaches would she eat per feeding if she usually eats 2 superworms every other day? Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

How big is the gecko? If it's an adult, a single adult dubia per feeding would be fine. Just so you know, if you keep them correctly enough to keep them alive they're going to breed, it's what roaches do. :p For younger geckos it varies per size of the gecko, so it's hard to give you an idea of what size/number to give smaller animals. Generally the roach should be no longer than the width of the gecko's head.

Sorry I forgot to add can you PM what part of NH your from? I can help you out with a place to get roaches for a good price and give you what ever size you need.

Yeah she's an adult. Is there a way to control the size of a colony then? I only have one gecko and the only issue I'd have with breeding would be having WAY too many.

Temps. Keeping roaches at lower temps (around 78-80F) will slow breeding down dramatically while still keeping them alive. Raising temps to 85-90 will increase. Also, feed off adult females first, leaving the males for later. The less females you have the fewer babies you will get. IDing them is easy, only males have wings.

And if you're concerned about having to many I'm sure you could find some one in the area who would take excess. Anyone with a Bearded Dragon for instance, they're eating machines and will down 50+ dubia nymphs per sitting. lol

You well have multiple sizes at one time most of the time... Also most people feed them grape fruit or oranges that makes the colony go faster so you can try to feed them not citrus. Also if you have to many lol then sell some off. Maybe sell them to the place you bought them from or something lol.
