To hatch or not to hatch, that's the ?

I've had my female for 3 weeks and I noticed that she has at least one egg inside her. Some of you know that when I got her she was being housed with two males. Both of them are Tangerines and my girl is a Super Snow. Now I don't have an actual incubator so I would have to make my own with the spare aquarium I have. So my question is should I even try hatching them or should I freeze the egg(s)? What are your thoughts.

If they were fertile, I'd go ahead and try to hatch them. Then if their pattern/coloring is not to your liking you could sell them or give them away to friends who know how to care for leos.

If you aren't prepared to incubate eggs or care/house for hatchlings, there's nothing wrong with freezing the eggs. You might not want to deal with it all just yet.

Im sorry for asking this but what does "Freezing the eggs" mean? Sounds like actually freezing the eggs but what is the entire procedure? Thanks

Take the egg and put it in a bag in the freezer and freeze it. This will kill the egg. Its a good way to make sure that a leo wont hatch in the garbage. I know it sounds bad but really, its better then having a little leo that you are unprepared to look after.

On the other hand you can see if anyone is looking for unwanted eggs on Kijiji in your area. There is a guy in my area who will take any unwanted reptile eggs.

Hope this helps

Depends on if you want babies. If you have to think about it, I'd say discard the eggs.

Check your local craigslist. Maybe someones sellinga incubator;D its worth a shot. Ive seen a few on my craigs for decent. You could also get one from lllreptiles. Personally i failed with my homemade incubator. Lost 2 eggs to it and that was enought o make me buy a real one. If your gonna breed later on, maybe just get a incubator now? If not like mentioned nothing wrong with freezing the eggs if your not ready for babies.

I'd freeze em. You're not setup yet for breeding and the offspring aren't going to be anything spectacular(mack snows). There are all ready too many leopard geckos in the world, why create more if you're not necessarily ready to keep them yourself? Another point would be, are you sure of the genetics behind all of the animals involved? Any possibility of unknown hets? I'm thinking albinos, specifically. If the female turns out to be het bell, and say the father was het tremper, you could potentially end up with some genetically useless offspring. My advice is, freeze the eggs and any more she lays and if you still feel you want to get into breeding, get everything you need a head of time and get yourself a nice male of good genetics and compatible morphology to go with her.

I've looked around for incubators on craigslist and such with no luck. I think I'm gonna wait. She's less than a year old so there is plenty of time for little babies. In the mean time I'm working on fattening her up.
