I came across a vendor that carries both regular and green eyed tokays. I am interested in picking up both. At least from what I read on websites the care for both are exactly the same.

The question I have is that, assuming they can be sexed and there are not 2 males and the tank is large enough. Can both these types of gecko's co-exist in the same tank together?

I know mixing species is not recommended but from what I am reading they are both Tokay's.. just one has green eyes and the other doesnt.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks!

They are two different species, Gekko gecko is the Tokay, and Gekko smithii is the Green-Eyed Gecko. I don't know how large smithii gets compared to a Tokay, but their care should be similar.

There care is similiar, but I would be careful about mixing. The Green Eyed is a much shyer animal and would probably be less dominant. Think of it more as a shy forest Tokay instead of the generalist.
