Depending on age the one will a tail kink probably came within a weird stance in the egg or from a fall in calcium from the mother at the end of the breeding season, the first will correct on its on the latter, the mother can only store so much for so long and it can often be corrected if you act promptly, not that he/she should be bred later but the deformity can often be corrected.

If it was born without a kinked tail, some leos just do not process calcium as well as others, some from D3 deficiencies some from genetics and inbreeding either way:

Give the leo liquid calcium 1 drop 3 times per day for 10 days for 5 grams, 2 drops when 10 grams etc, the kink will probably disappear. Ive only had that happen to 2 or 3 year old females with their last clutch a couple of times but each time the kink was fully gone before 10 grams and given away as pets with instructions of how to handle a return in a possible tail kinks.

So geckos with tail kink should not be bred? Why? There are Enigmas with tail kinks... I think ppl are not baying them to not bred them.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

Wendy, these are the first clutch from an '06 female... The Jungle hatched with his tail like that, but I will give the drops a try to see if it helps... Thanks for the advice!

This topic is certainly worth it's own thread I think. If you start one I will gladly join in the discussion. Thanks. ;)

it could be the way it was laying in the egg, Ive had a few that the cali drops cleared up the kink and it never came back so I came to believe those were instances of the position in the egg.

how did its tail fall off?

It got of it's bin and was found the next day without a tail... I'm guessing my cats had something to do with it...

He'll still be a killer Snow Bell!
