Transportation advice?

Hey all, I think this goes here, if not I apologize. I'm getting my leopard gecko in the next week or so (yay!), and I just thought I should find out the best way to transport the little fella home. It's either going to be a 15 minute ride or an hour, more likely 15. Since I'm in Alberta, any extra heating I should provide? Thanks

If the car is heated, temperature should not be a problem. Many of us who transport reptiles to a show and display them there keep each one in a clear plastic deli cup with small holes punched in the side. If you're getting your leo from a pet store, they often provide cardboard boxes. A breeder should be able to provide a deli cup and if you're getting it from a private individual, you could go to the supermarket and get a plastic gladware container and put some holes in the cover or the side. The leo should be fine in there for however long it takes to get home. If it's cold on the day you transport and you're worried about getting it from the home to the car, you can wrap the deli cup or container in your coat or a blanket for that short amount of time.

Thanks Aliza, good to know it's not too complex haha. Just curious, and I know geckos aren't turtles, but should the container be kept dark or left exposed? I know with turtles that darkness calms them somewhat.

When i drove back and forth from school for breaks, it's about a 5 hour drive, and Newton, my leo, always just goes in a paper towel lined deli cup. i put the cup in a shoebox with a hand towel so it doesn't slide around and buckle her into the passenger seat.
