Traveling with leopard gecko

I am going to be leaving for New Hampshire in May and have a few questions about transporting my gecko.

Since I am driving there isn't a place to plug in the heat pad. Will she be ok until we get to a hotel room for the night? If not what suggestions do others have?

My sister and I rutinely travel nine hours to Pa and back and if its warm we don't do a heat source, just keep the car warm. But if you feel you need one you can use handwarmers just make sure they don't come into direct contact with them and watch the temp because they can get super warm. We started out with them and then eventually just took them out because it stayed pretty warm.

They should be fine without a heat source. People ship geckos without a heat source when it is decent temps... like 70s or around room temp. Just would not want to do this on a regular basis and might be better if it was on an empty stomach as well.

Last time I needed to transport my girl I put her in one of those large plastic "critter tanks" and taped one of those hand-warmers to the bottom of it for a nice temperature. They're just those little packets that you squeeze and they heat up. They work quite well.

i moved from FL to Iowa, and it got below 0 and was like getting 20- Ofcouse i couldnt keep anything in the moving van, but as long as i kept them in the car upfront with me. they where fine, with the heat on (Had the heat on because I was cold!) lol and they did fine.

I don't know how hot it'll be in May, but I remember that while transporting my gecko to school in September we actually had to worry about keeping him cool! Darn heat wave. You might want to bring something to shade her from direct sunlight so she's not baking even though you've got the ac on.

Everyone has different methods but what works for my little guy is a sour cream tub with most of the lid cut off and replaced with plastic canvas. Then cut a small hole in the side for the thermometer probe to stick through and ta-da, you have a cozy travel container and can monitor the temperatures too. Also, like Michelle said, don't feed for a day or so before travel.
