Traveling with young gecko

I have a young gecko and will be traveling to a cabin for a week so I need to figure out how best to transport it and house it while at the cabin. I will travel by car but its enclosure is quite large and can't be moved. Any suggestions for how to transport, house and care for my little one while on holiday?

Get a small critter keeper (clear plastic box with colored vented snap-on cover, available at pet stores). Put your gecko in there for the trip. If you have to stop for a meal, put the critter keeper with the gecko in a canvas bag and take it into the restaurant with you. Don't leave it in the car and don't make a big deal with the restaurant that you have a gecko in there.
Get a large critter keeper (usually about 17"x14") or a 10 gallon or 20 gallon tank. Get some Zoomed heat cable (14' should be enough) and take the thermostat I hope you have in your regular enclosure (if not, buy a thermostat) to go with it. Before the trip, install the heat cable (you could also get another under tank heater, but the cable is more versatile. Use Nashua tape [looks like a roll of shiny duct tape, but it's like adhesive aluminum foil with a peel-off backing] to keep the heat cable on)
When you get where you're going, plug in the new enclosure with the thermostat, put the gecko in and feed it from the worms or crickets you've brought along.

Traveling with an animal is quite a risky decision. You must understand that you are responsible not only for yourself but also for your pet.
