So it is official that I will be moving to Boston for college, and will be taking Theo with me, the question is how exactly could I get him up there? Can you take on the plane? Or ship them? the same with the tank, how do you get all that stuff up there?

Any help anyone could give would be appreciated.

Congrats on your acceptance to college!

I have only travelled wiht my geckos by car. So we just kept them in a container and drove with them there and then set up the tank once we got there. As you are flying...I'm not sure. I don't think you can just take it on the plane? I assume its the same way you bring cats and dogs on, right? If you ask a breeder, they will let you know. They do it a lot when they ship their geckos to buyers.

Unfortunately, you cannot bring reptiles with you on a plane. You can ship your tank, but it will most likely not make it in one piece. You will need to ship your gecko to yourself via Next Day/Overnight with UPS or FedEx. There are plenty of breeders here on this site that can help you with details when the time comes.

CONGRATULATIONS on your acceptance to college!

Tank: see if you can find someone driving up from FL who can take the tank for you.

Gecko: ship it to yourself as Marcia suggested, or you can ship it to me. Send me an email if you're interested.

Thank you everyone for the congratulations and help!
That would be tricky to ship the tank unless I spent an insane amount of money. :(
Aliza, I will message you when the time comes about shipping him!

Congrats on your college acceptance. One thing you should check is to make sure if you are living on campus you are allowed to have pets in the dorm--but since it's Boston you're probably living off-campus, and as long as the landlord says it's ok then you're good to go. Before you sign a lease you might want to check it out though as some landlords are *really* bad about letting you have any pets at all. I noticed right now you live in FL, and sometimes here in Boston it gets cold, so make sure that your gecko has lots of heat. :)

It looks like me and Aliza both live in the same Boston suburb so there's already a bunch of fellow leopard gecko fans here! :D Good luck with the move.

Aliza is a very helpful and sweet person! I would maybe sell your current set-up--maybe post on craigslist. Then, when you get to Boston, look for a new set-up. I would be sure to look prior to moving, although. Good luck!

Thank you for the replies everyone! and for the congratulations! :)
And yes Aliza is very sweet for trying to help me out.:main_yes:
I was thinking about just packing his stuff along with mine (tank accesessories) and just buying a new 10 gallon. I cosigned a lease to share an apartment with 2 other students and Im deffinately allowed to have Theo, as long as he doesnt bite and wont escape.
