I've read older posts that have mentioned trial or demo feeder cups from online sources, does anyone know of any websites that offer these any more?
I'm interested in trying silkworm and butterworms for my two girls, unfortunately I've not found any local shops that carry them at this time and do not know if the leo's will happily take to them or not (would assume so, but you never know).

Edited:
- Also, what are people's experiences with Calci Worms? Phoenixworm.com states that they have tested theirs for years, anyone know how Calci Worms have been treated/tested?

I have not had luck with Calci Worms at my local chain store, but keep in mind that could also be because of improper stocking/handling on their part. I've heard good things about ReptiWorms

Here are a few feeder samplers I've seen. I have not tried any of these personally, but the companies are well known:

Thanks Indy, I did pick up a small thing of Calci Worms the other day... but the little things certainly aren't moving all that much. In fact only two of them are cruising around so yeah, don't think I'll be getting those again.

Will have to look at those, thanks!

Yeah, I was going to buy a container of Calci-Worms, but when I peeked inside of them, I found the worms dark and not moving, already turned into flies (GAH), or, even better, the container seemed to be empty (what the heck?). I really want to order some soon, so I'm going to do some online browsing...

The container I purchased had both dark and light worms, but only a few had the wiggles of movement. A few twinges got better when they were put in the feed dish, but not many. Both the girls seemed to tolerate them though, so at least they will try to eat them.

My newest girl, Erebus, still isn't the best hunter. She usually ends up dragging a few mealies out of their bowl, so was hoping a smaller critter would help her. She has gotten a bit better at striking, but unlike Grimm (who is a porker and hard striker), Ere tends to follow her prey for a few seconds and try to line up a decent strike.

This is a very interesting thread. I was about to post something very similar. MY gecko hates mealworms, So I had to try crickets. Seems like crickets are his thing. I wanted to sample dubia roaches but I am unable to find anything that has a sampler with them. I would hate to buy them in bulk and later find out they were a waste.

any ideas on where I could buy sampler dubias?

Thanks.

The chain store where I live has recently started putting up small cups of roaches for sale. If this is something they're rolling out across the company, you might find roach cups in the stores where you live.

I also know that West Coast Roach sells in smaller batches, down to 25, so you could order online as well.

I like the idea of a snack pack like that. Cheaper way to figure out your gecko's preferences than buying full portions of each thing. It'd be awesome if Repashy or Pangea did this for their CGD powders. I've got one picky little princess of a gargoyle gecko who is most fussy about her meal mixes. I now own small 2oz packets of every flavour Pangea sells, as well as the Repashy regular and the Repashy bugs. She will eat a couple of them straight and a couple others mixed together. :main_rolleyes:

I'd love to try dubia roaches but those are 100% no-go here in Canada. Illegal.

I really don't understand why dubia are illegal in Canada... not like they could successfully colonize /anywhere/ in the country. *sighs*

But yes, the snack pack I ordered was awesome. Both my lizards got a month of variety for relatively low cost. :)
