I'm sure like me most ID thier tubs based on the leos they hold, well I use permenant markers and today thought of what I think is a rather good idea. I used clear tape which I stick to the outside front wall and write on that instead of the container itself.

Cool idea! I only have four racks and I keep all my data on my computer so I pretty much remember who's where and what not. That'll all change next year...

I use a label maker! Each breeder has a number, and a name. Both are posted on the bin (First just the number, but after hearing much complaints from my "other" about not knowing whos who, I put names :D )

What I plan to do once my leo breeding operation gets started (my male is only 5 months old now) is to have each of my breeders names starting with different letter of the alphabet. That way the babies will be really easy to keep track of. The fathers initial would come first, then the mothers, then the number that the offspring was. So if my male, Agro, and my female, Nadia, were to breed, their 5th baby to hatch would be AN#7.
I got this idea from Jeff Schaecher at geckoguru.net where I got my male and one of my females from. Of course this idea only works as long as I have 26 breeders or less. :main_laugh:

This may be a little off topic...but I found a cool method of removing permanent marker from enclosures/deli cups..."LYSOL spray"! I got tired of tossing out deli cups with old info on them so I looked it up and found out that Lysol works great. Since then I've gone through and cleaned off all the old marking on my racks also. Just spray it on, let it sit for a minute then wipe it off.

This is what I do...I take name tag kits and turn them into labels that contain any information I need for the tub and then use velcro for easy removal. The plastic prevents the label from getting wet or damaged. Because everything is reusable, I can just replace the actual tag when the occupant changes. :main_thumbsup:

I use post-its. I wouldn't use them if I had huge numbers of enclosures, or if I had plastic bins, but they work pretty well on glass. If I move hatchlings into other combinations, or if I put them together in a new enclosure for a few minutes to compare them or to show them to a potential buyer I can just pull off the postit and put it on the enclosure they've moved to. The biggest disadvantage is if the sticky stuff wears off and they fall off, but I check carefully and regularly.
