Two newly adopted Leos - Double checking setup and gecko health

I recently got two leopard geckos from a friend of a friend and just wanted to post up some pictures here to double check that I have my set up correct and that the geckos look healthy to people with more experience. I have two Blue Tongue Skinks but Leos are new for me. :D I've been reading up on different care sheets, but I always like to post up pictures for any suggestions on enclosure set up.

They came in a 20L tank on what I think was Calci-Sand, it was a bright pink and had stained their feet. They only had two hides, a single dry hide for each. I moved them into a spare 40gal breeder and added more hides. I also switched to tile/paper towel. Their previous owner housed them together, and I've been keeping a close eye on them for any bullying, but so far they seem to be doing fine with space to spread out.

They came with a heat lamp, but keeping the temps stable is a pain and after reading that heat mats are better for them anyways, I ordered one and a thermostat that should be here early next week.

Both geckos look to be female from the sexing threads I've read and photos I've looked at. I'll try to get pictures up for a verification later.

The normal girl is in shed, she weighs 40g.

Not entirely sure which morph this girl is. Low expression Carrot-tail perhaps? She weighs 52g. I did some searching about what the bulges behind her forelegs are and some people are saying it's some sort of calcium liquid storage. Is this true?

They came with a mealworm colony but I'm probably going to start up a roach colony for variation, and my skinks would probably love them too.

Set up looks great and the geckos do too! I agree that an under tank heater will be better for them than a heat lamp. Best of luck with your new friends!

I've heard people attribute the bulges to calcium or fat - though I hear fat more often, so I'm inclined to believe that. I'm not a vet, however, so don't take my word for it.

But they look good and it's nice to see them in good hands. :)

Glad that everything seems in order. The one with the bulges is quite a fatty so I might cut back a bit on how many mealworms she gets.

Good call on the UTH and thermostat. Looks like these lucky geckos are in good hands :) The bottom girl looks like a hypo tangerine, she does need to go on a diet. The bubbles are lymphatic fluid storing protein and calcium, nothing to be concerned about.

Next to last pic is my FAVE! I love that smug little look on her face! :sweetheart: And yea.. she is DEFINITELY fat... I thought my girl was fat, yours takes the cake! SO CUTE! I have a Dubia Colony and I love them. They are SUPER quiet, don't smell and are REALLY easy to take care of. :)
