Umm I noticed I only have enough room for a 15gallon (approx. 24x12). Seems kinda small for the leo furniture I have so I was thinking of making a second level to put a hide and some plants.

Does does anyone have pics? have advise on how it works? how you guys contructed it?

I just added a "mezzanine" level for all my geckos; its made with foam-board (cardboard on the outside with foam core, about 5mm thick) and pins were used to join the parts together, so no glue was used. Its very sturdy too:

I have the humid hide tucked under this platform, as you can see, a space is created between the corner of their tank and the humid hide; I have put a few rocks in there and they love sleeping in that space:

Going for the 2nd floor is the easiest way. It doesn't take much. You could build it out of foamboard & grout. Or even less effort--tile using hides to support it.

If you plan to adhere 2 tanks, making them 1 tower use caution once you've taken out your glass. I haven't tried it (yet) but I've read that until you "sure up" the corners the integrity of the tank is in jeopardy.

Whatever you do, show us!

I really like your idea acpart. I was a little confused on how to support it. Stupid me I was going to go all extra and silicone in a shelf, but I was terrifide if I did it wrong it woudn't work.

I think I can get some stick things (LOL) for legs and glue this bark looking background I found and wrap some plants around them. How does that sound?

What can I use for "stairs"?

I put the humid hide or the lay box next to the upstairs and they can stand on it and climb up (the upstairs is only about 5" off the ground). Some of them can get up there directly from the floor. In one case I have a branch (I think you can see it in the picture) with the lay box butted up against it to keep it there. The whole thing is free-standing and is remarkably stable with 12" tiles. The geckos are very light and I haven't have any problems with stability.
