UBV light question..why the difference in price???

so I am googling prices for uvb 5.0 bulbs... one website has it for 13.99..the other $34.19 same exact thing.....That is a big prices difference..

The vet suggested I get one for our cage....

Leopard Geckos do NOT need UVB lighting. Sorry, but your vet is misinformed, I'd be wary about using that vet for your geckos...

She is a herp vet...and the only one I have available.. got her name of the arav website.

That's rather strange that a herp vet would recommend UVB lighting for a nocturnal animal. Are you sure she recommended a UVB lamp and not just a lamp with a red bulb?

sigh... the other vet I saw also recommended one however the second one seemed more educated.

I am happy to not spend the money though if not necessary.

A lot of Herp vets do not know a lot about Leopard Geckos specifically from what I have noticed. Most seem to bunch them in the category of other lizards that DO require UV. :x

Wow, like everyone else, I'm surprised you were so misinformed. Especially since her opinion costs so much...

I would use and UTH or an infrared bulb. Geckos need a hotspot but they certainly don't need a bright light shining on them much less UVB.
