Ugh. Already had to separate a pair.

Weird, too.
Because they bred together last year.
But he got too aggressive, and tonight when I took them out to clean their enclosure, I put them in a KK together (as I have already this season), and I went to get her out, and he latched onto her, flipped her out of my hand, and he bit her in a way that he not only left a mouth bite mark on her back, but he ripped into her side under her arm pit.
She's going to be OK, but she's slightly traumatized. He's been biting her, which I know it's typical, but he just showed tonight that he's way too aggressive for her.
And she's gravid.
I hope she's going to be ok.:(

Well, when I first put them together, she was feisty. She was not having ANYTHING to do with his attempts to breed with her. And she did well at holding her own.

But I kept an eye on them, and he must've gotten her at some point because she's gravid (whether or not the eggs will be any good depends on a lot right now).
BUT, tonight was out of nowhere.

He really got her, and once the they separated (after her ROLLED her, seriously, they looked like alligators), she stayed in the corner of the KK and just laid there.
My husband came into the kitchen cause her heard me kind of freaking out, and he said, "Separate them. She's bleeding. He's too aggressive for her."
And that's when I noticed the cut along her side down to her arm pit.

We soaked her and put some neosporin on the cut.
HOPEFULLY she'll be ok now that she's in her own enclosure with a lay box and a warm hide with fresh food and water.

Do you ever just have a female that will NEVER tolerate breeding??

Ben was wondering if it was something to do with Bear possibly being a high temp female?

But she's definitely way feistier than Ursula and Lizzy. And sure, Monkey could be considered an aggressive breeder, but they were all fine last year.

Oh well.
I *think* he's gotten her, so if she's gravid with fertile eggs, then that's good.
If not, I may just have to never breed her again.
