Unexpected Eclipse gene: the saga continues

Awhile ago I posted about an outcome from my 2004 Tremper x eclipse female producing an eclipse offspring. It turned out, as the hatchling grew and my poor elderly eyes could better make out its eyes that the eyes weren't eclipse, just really dark. However, I hatched another from that pairing last week, an albino who has red snake eyes, so the possibility of an unexpected eclipse gene in the Tremper is still alive. NO picture because my camera isn't that good and she'll just close her eyes if I try anyway.

This is interesting keep me updated :) I love stuff like this . I have a weird hatchling this year from my raptor collection . I have quite a few raptors and I hatched a baby with red splotches down his back with a green and yellow body and bright red the head with a completely white tail. And it's the only 1 I've ever hatched out like that .. That's part of my addiction with breeding Leo's and snakes I always hold back the really cool oddball stuff to see if it leads to anything more substantial in the future :) anyways good luck with you're odd little one !

View attachment 59171 View attachment 59172 here they are, these are clutchmates. obviously very different and the one i was talking about with the weird pattern / color had a paradox spot on the face, but its fadded over the last week. I think it was not actually black pigment. I believe it was a concentrated orange spot that looked brownish/ black. But its fadded away almost completely. The clutchmate is nice too, has a red dorsal stripe down the back. Sorry for bad quality photos. I took them in a hurry the first pic a good representation of the tail. all white no carrot tail, which is odd because 99% of my raptors as hatchlings usually have between 40-70% carrot tail at least down the sides of the tail and it fills in more as they grow. The second picture is a good representation of his body color, really light bright yellow with some green, and you can see the red on his head / neck. Its hard to get the photo's to show the color correctly. Im taking these with my iphone so its tricky lol hope you enjoy. Post a pic of yours when you can. I know the leos don't appreciate the flash in there eyes lol.. I try to not take pics of my albinos with flash because they're light sensitive for the first few weeks of life.

View attachment 59183 and heres another raptor. same genetics as the one above, typical hatchling body colors but has dark spots on the face...hopefully these wont fade out like the one above.

Thanks. Can you post a picture of your "odd" gecko?

Ya I was thinking that but the pattern Isn't really in a reverse stripe type of line, its more sporadic with red below his head and around the back of his neck. Thanks :) I'm enjoying it, the real way to tell what his pattern will turn out to be will show when he grows a bit more. You know hatchlings they change dramatically between 5-25 grams , especially raptors. Thats one of the reason I love working with them. Anyhow post a pic of yours when you can, yours seems like an actual mutation from what your saying. Mines just and "odd" looking one that I usually don't see in my collection. Most of my reverse stripes are perfect bold reverses when they're hatchlings that break up a little as they get older ofcourse. would be cool if the reverse stripe starts to connect as he grows ! Another thing that was odd as you can see in the picture he has the red splotches of color on his sides as well and no carrot tail is really weird.. I like him :) hes a hold back lol :)

I've produced a few tangerines that have the red on the sides of the head. Interestingly, last season I produced a perfect reverse stripe albino from a banded Tremper (the same one that fathered this surprise eclipse) and a banded het blizzard. She kept her stripe and still had it when I sold her at about 25 grams.

I just hatched another non-albino perfect reverse stripe from the same Tremper male and bold stripe female.

Nice ! have to keep that pair going then :). My pair that produce the really bold reverse stripes are interesting as well... Father is a jungle raptor and the mother is a beautiful solid orange sunglow. bred them together and they produced nothing but extremely bright reverse stripes every time. But I've also bred that same raptor father to another sunglow, and she produced beautiful banded offspring.. its interesting, im sure the banded offspring will turn to a more solid orange similar to sunglows as they grow. I hold back a lot of my double het stuff like that. I cant help but wanting to see what the double hets produce :)

I have a giant tremper that gave me the same surprise, one red snake eyed baby out of a breeding season. I've never breed him again because other projects got in the way. It was a nice surprise.
