Ellie is about 1 year old.......................all was well UNTIL she lost her eye site

i posted a thread awhile back about our leo (Ellie) having a ruptured cornea (vet's diagnosed). within a month, the vet said she would lose the eye. within a months time, Ellie's eye closed completely and for whatever reason, the other eye sealed up as well and she NEVER opens them. we tried eye flushes and nothing. she keeps them shut.

the vet did mention that there was a good possibility that she would stop eating once she lost her eye/eyes so we were prepared to feed her by hand to make sure she was eating. she never took anything by hand nor out of her bowl. so she stopped eating completely.

so once she lost her eye sight, we noticed she stopped eating 100%. her tail has shrunk considerably.

within this time frame, we also got an eye dropper that we used to put a drop or two of water on her lips so she would at least stay hydrated by licking the water off.....................which she did.

as for the food, we have tried everything. she wont open her mouth for ANYTHING.

she has become very dull in color and she just lays around.......24/7. we hold her every night and try to work with her. she never struggles to get away nor does she act like she's under any kind of stress. we continue to give her a couple drops of water.

we decided to try the "soup" that was recommended here as a last resort. we did this today, actually. i picked her up and put a drop of it on her lips....so far, so good. she was licking it. we gave her a few drops and then all of a sudden, her stomach started making a loud squealing noise like a lot of air bubbles were moving and her stomach was in pain.........right after that she started having diahrea badly and it was within a minute or two of her eating the life support soup. so we stopped, thinking maybe it was a bit much from her not eating for some time. so we stuck her back in her tank........

so, we went back in just a little bit ago, to try a couple more drops and i picked her up and she has "bloody" diarreah around her anus. the soup that we gave her earlier was crusted on her lips and she was nt opening her mouth to clean it off. so i cleaned her mouth off and pulled her jaw down to see if i could see in her mouth, to see if anything raised a red flag.......nothing. i was wondering if the soup sealed her mouth to where she couldnt open it on her own.

so needless to say, she's in really bad shape. im not sure what could be going on but she is falling really fast.........very sluggish, dull in color and blood in her stools......100%. but her tail is not limp so she is not showing signs of dehydration.

but without posting pictures, has anyone ever had any of these symptoms before that could advise me to what is happening?

:(......well, it looks like Ellie has met her maker. I havent made it home yet but my daughter called me to say she had past.

now heres what i dont understand. i told her to try and feed her a little more but when she lifted her humid hide she found Ellie UPSIDE DOWN.

why the heck would she be upside down? has anyone ever experienced this same behavior? like i said, we were not home to witness this but right now, my daughter wont touch her. when i get home, shortly, we will bury her.

damn, not what i wanted to hear!! SIGH

I recently lost a gecko who I found, deceased, upside down, hanging halfway out of her moist hide.

It was one of the most traumatizing things I have ever seen in my life. I will never forget it.

I don't know why, or what happens, but yes, I have had it happen before. I am so sorry for your loss, and I hope your daughter is okay after finding that.

as expected she was crying and we had a burial for her when i got home. i picked Ellie up and before placing her in a box with a pillow, i looked at her belly. she had a black circle in the middle of her stomach which looked like something happened inside of her...........

thanks for the kind words.......................
