Back last April I got a 5 month old bell albino from a lady who could no longer take care of her. When I recieved her she weighed only 12 grams. Here is Nala's story.
Here she is at around 12 grams. She was only around 5 inches long.
I took her to the nearest herp vet and her fecal came back with parasites. So she was treated for two types with two different medicine.
After completing the parasite meds there was no improvement in her health. She would not eat and was very lethargic so I decided to put her on baytril for bacterial infection.
After being on the baytril for 7 days Nala started doing worse than ever. It seemed as if she was having a bad reaction to the medicine.
She dropped down to her lowest weight while on baytril. She was only 9 grams and I began to fear the worse. So I took her off the baytril.
She improved after being taking off baytril and I was advised by Marcia that since Nala had not eaten on her own in such a long time that she had developed fatty liver disease.
So I started her on Marcia's slurry twice a day to combat the fatty liver disease. Once she became more stable I tried baytril again and this time the treatment was successful.
It was a slow process but eventually Nala began gaining weight and growing again.
Today I am proud to say she is up to 30 grams and 7 inches long.
I do believe her sick past has stunted her growth however. But atleast she is doing better and happy. She is my little polly pocket.
