Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted anything, but baby Chloe has kept me busy. She'll be a year next Wednesday and just took her first two steps this morning. Anyways, an update on the Super RAPTOR project looks like this...

I ended up hatching one male Mack Snow RAPTOR which I posted pics of last year. He is now 60 grams and one of his eyes snaked-out and only has a little red left. His second eye is still solid red. The first and second pics are of him.

I also hatched two Super Snow RAPTORs, at least that's what I'll call them for now. I'm using the name Super Snow RAPTOR and not Super RAPTOR because the Super RAPTOR is supposed to be solid white throughout it's life along with having solid red-eyes. These two females both have two solid red-eyes, but have the same pattern as a Super Snow. The third and fourth pics are of the 30 gram female and the fifth pic is of a 15 gram female. I obviously haven't bred them to see what they will produce so I use these names carefully as not to offend anyone who might not agree with what I'm calling them for now.

I apologize for the lackluster pics, I'd love to get a new camera, but as a stay-at-home Daddy I haven't had an income for a year now. Maybe I'll produce some decent geckos this year and make enough to purchase a new camera.

I'd love to answer any questions about this project that is in it's infancy, but has been a lot of fun!

Cheers,
Charlton Kangas / Kangas Kritters

The mack Raptor is awesome! So are the SS Raptor?, even if they're "just" SS Trempers, they have the coolest patterns of any I've seen.

Do I see striped tail and pattern on the Super Snow Raptor females? I haven't seen something like this in the SS Trempers... very cool:main_thumbsup:

SS trempers with striping like that are SS raptors TO ME until I prove mine not to be .

Best of luck proving them out, as I know alot of us are waiting with crossed fingers until breeding results are in.

Yes, Mateusz, they have stripes and pattern on their bodies and tail, just like a super snow has. Thank you Paul, I agree 100% until breeding says otherwise. Paul, seeing as they're both females, what would you suggest using for a male to prove them? A straight RAPTOR? I kind of want to use at least one of them with the Mack Snow RAPTOR.

Charlton , those are either SSTA 66% het eclipse(raptor) as you know or SS raptor.

I would breed one to a raptor and one to a mack raptor. Raptor x "ss raptor" make all mack raptors, the other cross makes half MS and half SS RAPTOR if indeed they are truely SS trempers expressing the eclipse eye trait. The worst you can make from those crosses is MS tremper het raptor or SS tremper het raptor (if you hatch a few non eclipse eyed mack trempers from either female)

Charlton, these are awsome. I have 2 MSST with striped tail but I never saw a SS with these pattern thats what I think a SS RS should look like *G*
With MShR*MShR these geckos show god was on your side and gave you the best odds you could get! Realy cool geckos!

Thanks for your opinion Paul, that's exactly what I was thinking. Thorsten, thank you also for your compliments. I was very fortunate and feel that God has been good to me and my family!

I'm not sure if you're referring to the babies (too small to prove yet) or the parents (they were actually mack snows 100% het RAPTOR, not Supers Snows). If you are referring to the parents, I did produce what appears to be a solid red-eyed RAPTOR from them although that particular gecko baffles me because shouldn't all of the offspring from mack x mack display mack visually in them? It might be another Mack RAPTOR with extremely light mack appearance??? Definately does not have any pattern at all, but is yellow, not white.

Sorry- was refering to the babies but I didn't know they were too small to breed yet. So they could be SS het RAPTOR or Super Snow RAPTORs. You just don't know which yet?

Also- you said you produced a baby from MackXMack. Where the parents both het RAPTOR? And if so the babies pink with solid red eyes? Just kinda confused.lol.

Charlton , mack X mack gives 50% mack, 25% SS and 25% no mack trait (IE normal). I would prove her out to a mack raptor myself to see if she's a colorful mack raptor or just a raptor.

Matt & Mallory,
All of the geckos I've referred to in this thread were produced from the same parents which were palin looking Mack Snows 100% het RAPTOR (see Frosty & Maggie on my website). The only "baby" that I kept that is big enough to breed right now is the male Mack RAPTOR (pics 1 & 2).

I have not placed any pairs together yet this season. I plan on letting him go with his aunt first which is another (third) mack snow 100% het RAPTOR (see Madelyn on website) I produced in '07. The two "Super Snow RAPTOR" females are only 15 & 30 grams resepctively so I'd be lucky to get the bigger one to breed late in '09. In comparison to other breeders, my geckos grow slowly, but always produce big when finally given their opportunities. My geckos usually breed at about a year of age compared to 9-months for other breeders.

Thanks for the inquiries!
Charlton

Charlton, those SS RAPTORS look gorgeous :main_thumbsup:. I would also agree with Thorsten that they look Reverse Stripe. Definately breed one of them to another RAPTOR to prove it as a SS RAPTOR. Every hatchling will be a Mack het RAPTOR or MACK RAPTOR.
