Thanks, I just use a canon 350d with a kit lens :) I will invest in a decent lens sooner or later, if I can ever refrain from buying geckos for a short period of time :)

Thanks :)

Um.. I have modified my settings alot over time. For the pictures I took last night, I used aperature priority [Av] at f 18 with an iso of 400. For dark backgrounds, like the cork/rhacodactylus, I set the exposure to -2, and for light ones, like for leopard geckos, I set the exposure to +1. I always manually white balance. And I have contrast and sharpness bumped up one point on the color parameters.

I started at aperature priority with a low f stop, and a high ISO untill I got the hang of not shaking the camera and making all of my pictures blurry. Slowly but surely i uped the f stop, and downed the ISO till I got what I am at now.

I use a decently high powered compact florescent which sucks for harsh shaddows, but it lets me have those settings, and not have to use a tri-pod. I end up with a shutter speed between 15-30 [which is automaticly adjusted while in Av mode]

For macros and hatchlings, I got one of these, which I LOVE, it also helps me to loupe sex 5-10g animals :) http://cgi.ebay.com/58mm-MACRO-10-C...1QQihZ020QQcategoryZ30045QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Theyre not the highest quality, and when you use them, they compromise your DOF even more, but I find them to be indesposable.

Theres all my secrets :)

No problem :) My set up is super ghetto. I use an 8 qt sterylite tub, and I stack the light over empty cat litter boxes hahah. for the leopard geckos i use a flat rock, then they cant run away, and for rhacs i use an over sized piece of cork, or grape vine.

A decent light set up and macro lens are at the top of my Want List ahaha.
