I've got a small hatchling tangerine with shed stuck to her head. I can't get anywhere near her to try to pull it off for fear of her dropping her tail. What can I do?

I find that they don't drop their tails that easily. I pick up my small hatchlings all the time. I even got a piece of shed off my hatchling coleonyx when she was not much bigger than a quarter. Either scoop it up and make a cave in your hand for her, or try to grab the shed by the loose end and when she moves it will pull off.

I've tried, but she gets defensive and hisses at me. She also has a strand stuck to her tail and her eyes. Would Saline help?

let her soak in lukewarm water.
Repeat several times.
You can even mist her with a spray bottle.

I have had lots freak out on me but none have dropped their tails yet. I usually use a wet q-tip.

I just had a "saved" gecko with MBD hiss at me for the first time (ive never had that happen) and it scared the you know what out of me... bear in mind im a 26 year old 200lb man.... I jumped!!!

Anywho, try to get at it with tweezers, thats what I try to do... misting him sounds good also to help it out. Mist, then tweezer.
