i thought you arent supposed to have rocks in the leos cage because they dont have nerves and cant sense if its getting to hot and end up burning themselves.

Im not forsure but ether way you need the right temps so they don't get burnt and keeps their body healthy

well my LG's always have the right temp in their cage, i was just concerned about the previous posts saying you should put rocks in their cage...

You can put rocks in there cage! You have to monitor it tho and make sure it doesn't get to over 100. In the wild when the sun goes down they lay on the rocks that have been under the sun all day so those get pretty hot! And leopard geckos shouldn't be walking around when their lights are on anyways they are nocturnal! I wasn't worried about day time for the new baby just night time since it gets down to 68 in my room and I wanted him/her to have belly heat 24/7. But I got my order in so its all good!

well im not dumb i know they are nocturnal i've done my research. so please dont treat me like i dont know anything. i was just concerned because alot of places i did my research at said not to have heat rocks in the habitat.

Yes, they said not to have HEAT rocks. Crestieguru said to put a ROCK under the light and heat it up that way to provide temporary belly heat until I get my heat pad. Heat rocks can cause problems because they can overheat big time they are very unreliable even with a rheostat set to a certain temp. And what you need to understand is this is a Forum you aren't the only one reading these posts. Some people do their research on here, what if those people didn't know they were nocturnal? Or what if someone saw that you couldn't put normal rocks in their cage cause it was said on here? I was just clarifying you can put rocks in their cages if you monitor the temps. and in no way did I try or mean to offend you.

I always put rocks undre leos, over the UTH and under the heat lights. They have nerves, they know how to avoid getting too hot. Its what reptiles have to be able to do to survive. I even use heat rocks. Some of my heat rocks are a decade old, and still work very well.

The prevailing belief seems to be that heat rocks are evil. I will admit that I use them for my lizards though and have never had an issue. I try to stick to decent quality heat rocks and I check them for hot spots manually every time I clean the cage. Lizards can and will burn themselves if given the opportunity but I believe that with a bit of caution heat rocks are ok. Again though take this with a grain of salt as I seem to be in the minority on this.

Currently I'm using slate tiles from home depot as flooring for my baby leos - An under-tank heater combined with the slate tiles seems to work pretty well and keep a stable temp even when the the house temp drops at night.

OMG GUESS WHAT EVERYONE ! IM SOOO HAPPY MY GECKOS FINALLY CAME OUT OF HIDING !
i cleaned their cage and put in a new heating mat under the cage and know they are haveing fun in the new setup =]
