uth and tile

I went to Lowe's today and found some really nice ceramic tile cut to fit my 20L. Right now I'm using repti-carpet and have a 10-20 gal zoo med uth stuck to the outside bottom of the tank. I am worried since my uth is on the outside of the tank its not going to be able to heat the tile enough. Where are you supposed to have the uth when you are using tile? I am wondering if I should just pick up a new one and put inside the tank, and somehow drill holes for its cord, or if any of you have had success in heating with one on the outside? If it helps, my temp is set with a thermostat halfway up at 94 and they are doing perfect, except for snagging their poor little teeth in the carpet when hunting crickets.

All my tanks are doing fine with UTH's on the outside bottom and ceramic tile. The tile holds the heat really well even though it's thicker than the repticarpet. If you have a problem, tape some aluminum foil to the outside of the UTH (so the UTH is in a sandwich between the bottom of the tank and the aluminum foil).

Thanks for the reponse:main_thumbsup:, I will be doing as you said and will also be putting the tile in with some other new stuff I bought soon , I can't wait to set it all up. The aluminum foil sounds like a good idea too.
