Hello, that happened to me before too ..but Im using reptile carpet now ..and right under the carpet I put a piece of foil under it right on top of the heater ( inside the tank ) it gives off more heat =) hope that helps.

i had the same problem, make sure the probe is touching the glass, it needs to be touching the bottom or it doesnt give you the best reading!!
