UTH placement ideas- help needed ASAP :)

I'm getting another tank for my second gecko, which will eventually be the tank that I keep my 2 females and 1 male in. It is 30 gallons. I was thinking I'd put the UTH in the center, so that I can divide the tank in half if I need to, and each gecko will have a hot and a cool side. I'm not sure that I'm going to need to divide it, but just in case.... Does this sound like an OK idea, or will I not have the correct temp. gradient?

Thanks,

im no expert... but i think the tank and the uth would have to be pretty big...

or maybe consider getting two smaller uth's and placing them at separate ends?

just a thought

I think the 2 UTH idea is a good one because you can choose which you will plug in depending on your needs. Another idea is to get zoo-med heat cable and run it along the whole length of the tank for the back half. Then when you divide the tank you have temp gradients that run in each section from the back of the tank to the front.

My dad has already bought the UTH. If I place it in the middle, then the center will be hot, and the sides will be cool. I think it would work, and what you are suggesting is the opposite of my idea. Hmmm...

Depending on the size of the UTH there may not be enough hot area for each leo. That would be my only hesitation.

I'll keep that in mind. My dad picked everything up for me, so I'll have to decide when I see it. Thanks for the help :)
