well decided to get this digital thermostat on amazon i found through this forum. looks great and for a great price.
question though, does the night time temperature need to go down? or should it stay in the 88-95 range?
Well if you have a thermostat thats where it will kick in to keep the temp at 90-95.
Or if you are still concerned about it, get a light with a low wattage bulb to produce some more air temp. im currently using a 11watt bulb found at home depot with frosted glass.
its not super bright cause of the frosted tint so it shouldnt disturb the gecko, and it add just a bit more heat to the temp. not a grip but maybe 2-3 degrees.
i have one of those but every time it stays moe than 15 minuts on it completely gets hot pretty quick. i was planning on returning it but i never did, but since im getting the thermostat here soon i might be able to make i work
You still dont want the bulb to produce more heat than the UTH. Your main heat supply should be from the UTH cuz they need belly heat. Right now i have my UTH set at about 91.5 and with my 11w bulb it goes up to about 94. so it seems to be working well.
yeah thats why im only using it when its really really cold in my room, the first 3 days i had him it was really cold n i was using the bulb plus the mat and i was barely able to keep it at 95 (it was freezing and one of my windows was stuck and couldnt close it completly but its fixed now)
so just to clarify, should the surface temp be taken from inside the hot hide? or outside somewhere in the middle over the UTH? cuz if its like 94 out of the hide, then im sure its like 95 96 inside the hide.
that is a good question im wondering the same??? i believe that outside because the hide will trap the heat and the pobe will take the air temp but i could be wrong...... aslong as its not directly under a heat lamp since that will give more air heat
